Chick’s father was not very nice to Chick in Chick’s childhood, and he even hardly ever gave his love to Chick. His father once told him:” You can be a mama’s boy or a daddy’s boy. But you can’t be both.” This decision is too big to a little boy. Chick’s father eager to let his children succeed so he let Chick to practice baseball so hard to finish his dream. A ghost story must have some reasons. So why is it a ghost story?
This book seems to be about Chick and his mothers day, but I think through the whole story and Chick’s childhood, Chick was always doing a same thing---chasing his father’s love. If you read the story on this side, you can find Chick’s father was always appeared in Chick’s mind. It just appeared in many forms. Sometimes in baseball, Sometimes in the memory of his childhood. On the surface, his father left Chick’s family, but his father always lives in Chick’s mind, never left him. So I think this family is a ghost story.
“Every family is a ghost story”. Our minds are always occupied by a person or something. And is like a ghost that you cant get rid of it for a long time.
